ABOUT MIKE FLESHREN

Mike started working on construction sites when he was 16. Gradually he moved into handling different elements of construction, and started learning the wide range of home remodeling skills that he has now. He even helped build entire houses. But as he worked for different companies, he became more and more frustrated with how they did the work. They would cut corners. They would not measure carefully, or they would skimp on materials, or they would otherwise do a poor job, saying "the homeowner won't notice."

Well, Mike noticed, and decided that the construction practices he saw were absolutely the wrong way to do this type of work. He started his own company in 1983 by distributing flyers to houses, and attaching them to telephone poles. He answered ads for drywall work. He put craftsmanship first, and word gradually got out. He kept a careful eye on quality by limiting his crew to himself and sometimes an assistant. His business was a success, and Flash Services has kept busy repairing and remodeling houses ever since.

Mike's family moved to Fairfax County when he was three years old, and he has lived in Springfield and Annandale.
